Examples of Good Practice from University of Design Schwäbisch Gmünd

Profile of the University

The University of Design Schwäbisch Gmünd aims at preparing its graduates for complex tasks in product and communication design. At the same time this educational strategy enables young designers to work as transformers and catalysors in groups with other experts from different disciplines and areas of expertise. The educational programme enables students to work on exemplary case studies and establish far-reaching principles and to recognize their model character for future problem solving situations.

International Seminar Week

The International Seminar Week, as a part of the curriculum, with its international flavour and its gathering of experts and friends, enriches the life of the University of Design and is already a tradition. We have been able to establish this international event at the University and to make it an integral part of the academic programme. Satisfied expressions, lively exchanges, dedicated working, an intensive programme, and much communication in an international context, all these characterize the week.

The University of Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd sees itself as an institution of international relationships. It has been active in academic exchange programmes and partnerships for decades, and traditionally occupies a leading position in the regular surveys of the German Academic Exchange Service. With the International Seminar Week we have created an intercultural an interdisciplinary platform for all members of the University and their guests and friends, right here at home. This illustrates the special dimension of this series of events.
